Latest Basilisk V2 and DeathAdder V2 – A Review

Razer released massive upgrades to two of its killer gaming mice around the first week of January 2020. In fact, both the mice were ultimate performers and the upgrades replace the old versions with extra muscles.

Version 2 of the Razer Basilisk, the ultimate successor of the best ever FPS gaming mouse is now available. Evidently, its signature design wasn’t touched but, on the inside, there are significant improvements.

Shape and Size

Firstly, the Basilisk V1 shape and design were not the best in its class. But now with this release, it is much more refined. Now, it has a more angular design and better ergonomics. As a matter of fact, you can have a better grip now!

The Ultimate Sensor Ever Included

The next biggest upgrade is the 20,000 CPI Focus+ optical sensor. In truth, this is the most accurate optical sensor with the highest ever CPI in the market. In fact, it is the pinnacle of Razer’s sensor development.

As a result of the sensor upgrade, it is now capable of up to 650 inches per second (was 450 in V1) and industry-grade 50G acceleration. In addition, it supports on the fly sensitive adjustments (Default stages: 800/1800/4000/9000/20000).

Bye, Bye Mechanical Switches!

Basilisk V1 integrated mechanical mouse switches. At the same time, they replaced the switches with Ultra-fast Razer Optical Mouse Switches. Compared to the old mechanical switches, optical switches are rated for 70 million clicks!

Loving More Buttons?

Another good news for gaming freaks is the additional buttons. Now, the Basilisk has 11 independently programmable buttons.

Looking for Even More? You Got Even More!

Noteworthy changes include weight reduction (92g), customizable scroll-wheel resistance, 2.1m Razer Speedflex cable to prevent pinch points and snagging, onboard profile storage and advanced Lift-off/landing distance.

What is Not Enhanced?

Still, Basilisk v2 is not ambidextrous. Therefore, it may be something they may change in the future (or not). Another issue is the size of the DPI clutch. In fact, it is somewhat smaller if you have big hands.

Next, let’s look at the DeathAdder V2, the iconic esport mouse and the one reached off-the-chart sales (10 million to the date!) If you are into Pc gaming, no doubt then you have heard or even touched this beast including its elite version.

Sensor and Sensitivity

DeathAddrer V2 is also boosted with Focus+ optical sensor, 650ips, 50G acceleration and on the fly sensitivity adjustments (Default stages: 400/800/1600/2400/3200).

Best in Class Ergonomics

With the V2 brand, DeathAdder got similarly improved in contrast to Basilisk V2 except for the number of buttons. However, they have kept the base ergonomic design and even improved it. Additionally, it now has an ultra-durable rubber grip and other small improvements.

Other Features

It has 8 independently programmable Hyperesponse buttons. Another is the large 100% Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) mouse feet that is 0.8mm thick, Speedflex cable and other things I previously discussed.

Final Thoughts

If you are not new to the Razer universe, you are already aware of the unchallenged gaming mice they offer. Both Basilisk (for FPS lovers) and DeathAdder (for MMO/MOBA lovers) version 2 are now decorated with astonishing features you have ever craved for.

If you are a serious gamer these are the ones to opt for.

Although this may be true, there is also the price tag to consider. If we take a look at Razer Basilisk, the V2 has a $79.90 price tag. In contrast to V1, it is a $10 increase for this major upgrade. However, the old Basilisk is now $39.99.

Razer DeathAdder V2, on the other hand, has the same price tag as its old version, $69.99. All things considered, you are able to purchase the new versions with a minimal difference in price. In reality, given the techy bits included, it is definitely worth the price.
