How Better Breaks Can Lead to Greater Productivity

how better breaks can lead to greater productivity
Working in long spurts is nearly impossible. Even if you force yourself to work without distractions, you will likely find that your brain starts to betray you. Perhaps you sit and stare at your screen for minutes on end. Perhaps you start procrastinating. Either way, the result is the same: you aren’t getting your work done. The reason why you cannot get this work done, however, is important. It isn’t because you aren’t focusing or because you are lazy, but because prolonged periods of uninterrupted work is difficult on the mind. Without a good break, you will only cause yourself to take “micro-breaks” throughout the day, and with increasing frequency. Not only will you take these breaks, but you will find it more difficult.

By allowing yourself to have a break, and to improve the quality of that break, you can get back to work and perform better, instead of pushing yourself harder.

Bring Healthy Meals at Home

The best way to manage your money better and to improve your diet is to simply make healthy meals in advance right at home. This way you can improve your figure, how you feel, and your productivity all at the same time. The healthier you are, the more able you will be to complete your work during the day and still have the energy for your passions afterward. As a bonus, having your meal already prepared means you have more time to yourself during your lunch hours.

Get Out of the Office

There are a lot of benefits to getting outside of the office during your breaks. For one, you can completely separate tasks. Work is at your desk; relaxing is for outside. It can help you relax faster during your breaks and work more productively during office hours. Another benefit to getting out of the office is that you can inject some exercise into your routine. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, for example, and you can get your heart pumping just a little. Doing so will help boost oxygen to your brain, and thus make it easier to work when you get back from your lunch break.

Try to Be Near Nature More

During your break, try to be around nature as much as you can. Nature has a very soothing effect on us, and as a bonus, it also produces more oxygen which will help us think more clearly. In summer, try taking your lunch breaks in a park. For winter, try to get everyone in the office to bring a plant into your office and break room. This way you can enjoy an urban jungle during your breaks.

Distract Yourself with a Fun Activity

Finally, distract yourself with a fun activity. You could play Unibet games, for example, and get the thrill of the game and enjoy the engrossing activity during your lunch break. Then, when you go back to work, you will have taken your mind off the challenges or tasks long enough to be able to return fully refreshed and ready to go.

Bettering the quality of your breaks can significantly improve your quality of life and quality of work. Don’t force yourself to work harder, simply focus on your health and wellbeing so that you can work better every day.
